The Healthcare Ecosphere (HCE) is a specialized ventureLAB program that connects hospitals with entrepreneurs, together with health services providers and academic institutions necessary, to guide and develop the unique innovations needed by healthcare organizations. Partners include MaRS Discovery District & several healthcare organizations.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

December 3rd Tribute celebrates Persons with Disabilities from all across the Greater Toronto Area. The event rotates venues from east to west every year. This year, Hiram Joseph, renowned gospel singer, sang some heart warming songs. Elvis impersonator brought The King back to life in between awards being given to people who in spite of their challenges, serve and make a difference in our communities. iCare Home Health is a proud supporter of the event every year. 

Top 10 things you need to know about the OTMH move on December 13:

1. At 6:00 a.m., all services and the Emergency Department at the legacy OTMH at 327 Reynolds Street will permanently close.
2. At 6:00 a.m., the Emergency Department at the new OTMH located at 3001 Hospital Gate will open.
3. We expect to see higher than average patient visits in the new Emergency Department after is opens which may impact wait times.
4. To assist with safely moving our patients, managing volumes and delivering care to the sickest patients on move day, the community is encouraged to seek care for non-life-threatening illness or injury from their family doctor, a walk-in clinic, or call Telehealth at 1.866.797.0000
5. The new OTMH is located at 3001 Hospital Gate.

8. All inpatients will be moved in one day

9. Patient visitation on move day will be restricted to 5:00-8:00 p.m. After December 13, there are no specified visiting hours. However, in the hospital, quiet time has been designated from the hours of 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. every day to promote a restful healing environment for our patients.

10. Outpatient clinics will not be open on December 13. Please contact your clinic for their reopening date.

Expressive art making can have a therapeutic effect on a person’s health. This basic premise is the foundation on which we have developed the Therapeutic Art Program (TAP) as part of the iCare Cognitive Stimulation support service. The services on the resources page are offered by community (private or non-profit), provincial or national agencies and could be accessed separately or in different combinations based on patient and family needs.
